Did you know that Asana (physical postures) is just ONE of the eight limbs of yoga?

In the ancient text, the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali gives an 8 limbed path that leads us toward self liberation. Asana, what most of us associate with the word yoga, is just one of these eight limbs. By immersing ourselves in the eight limbed path, we can begin to truly LIVE our yoga, both on and off the mat. Embracing the eight limbed path leads us on a journey home to the truest most authentic version of us.
What are the eight limbs of yoga?
1. Yamas: Five universally celebrated moral principles toward oneself and others for harmonious relationships.
2. Niyamas: Five self-observations that foster self discovery and ethical compassion towards oneself.
3. Asana: Physical Yoga Postures
4. Pranayama: Breathing Practices
5. Pratyahara: Sense Withdrawal
6. Dharana: Focused Concentration
7. Dhyana: Meditation
8. Samadhi: Bliss
Program Details
This program is an opportunity to deepen your yoga practice by getting to know its authentic roots, heal self destructive habits and behaviours, and make a shift towards a more compassionate and mindful way of living.
Through live group sessions at the studio or online, take-home practices and recordings, a detailed workbook and a five class package to attend regular studio classes, you will move through an immersive, therapeutic journey that will help you uncover the truth of who you are and live confidently as your authentic self. You will gather a timeless collection of somatic and therapeutic tools to help you cope with your day to day life with love and compassion. Together we will awaken to the notion that we have the power to shift our state of being and perception with the tools that exist within us already.

I often share that Yoga has saved my life. But it is not solely Asana that led me down the journey of self actualization, it was this, embracing the full eight limbed path. THIS is how yoga HEALS. It is an honour to share the practices that transformed my life with you in this way.

In this 6-week program we will explore two Yamas or Niyamas (moral principles & self observances) each week, learning practices that embody the other six limbs to guide the discovery of each theme and integrate it into our lives. Together we will learn and embrace several therapeutic yogic practices such as pranayama, mindfulness, meditation, self reflection, mudras, asana, sound healing and group discussion.

- Six 75 minute group sessions at the studio or online (Thursdays 7:00-8:15pm beginning February 22nd 2024)

-A 30 minute 1:1 support call with me (Abbey) to discuss your progress in the program

What will each live session look like?
Each live session (at the studio or online) will begin with an overview of the week's themes (two yamas or niyamas each week).
​
We will then embrace somatic and introspective yogic practices pertaining to the 8 limbs that help us explore the week's themes. These practices may include various pranayama (breathing) practices, various styles of meditation, mudras (hand positions), asanas (yoga postures), intuitive energy practices, mindfulness practices and sound healing.
​
The session will conclude with guided self-reflection regarding the themes of the week and heart-felt group discussion.
​
You will then be given practices and reflections to take-home for self study and integration.
​
* Each live session will be recorded (the instructor only). In the chance you are unable to attend, you can participate with the recording.
