What to Expect
Join us for a nourishing, immersive journey into digestive healing through the wisdom of Ayurveda. In this ancient holistic system, true health is defined as the harmonious functioning of the whole being—mind, body, and spirit. At the heart of it all is agni, our digestive fire. Balanced agni is the foundation of vitality, clarity, and resilience. It governs not only how we digest food, but also how we process emotions, experiences, and life itself.
By the end of this retreat, you’ll walk away with a clear, practical understanding of how to support and strengthen your digestion using time-tested Ayurvedic practices you can begin applying immediately in daily life.
Morning: Foundations of Digestive Health
We’ll begin the day by slowly sipping a warming, digestive Ayurvedic tea as we explore the following topics through discussion, self-inquiry, and interactive learning:

-The role of optimal digestion in disease prevention from an Ayurvedic perspective
-The connection between digestion, energy levels, and hormone balance
-How digestion influences emotional and mental health
-Holistic approaches to strengthening and maintaining digestive vitality
-Tongue analysis as a window into digestive health
-Ayurvedic daily practices for prevention and balance
-Ayurvedic cooking principles for optimal digestion
-Simple recipes for gentle digestive cleansing
-Self-marma therapy techniques to support digestive function


Midday: Ayurvedic Cooking & Conscious Eating
Just before lunchtime, we’ll move to the main building at 82 Lake Street for a hands-on Ayurvedic cooking class. Together, we’ll prepare kitchari, one of Ayurveda’s most revered meals for gently cleansing and restoring the digestive system. We’ll enjoy this nourishing lunch together while exploring simple, supportive eating practices.

During this session, we’ll explore:

-Common Ayurvedic spices and their digestive benefits ​
​
-How to cook in a way that enhances prana, the life-force energy of food ​
​
-The significance of ghee in Ayurvedic nutrition ​
​
-Practical cooking tips you can bring into your own kitchen ​
​
-Transforming eating into a mindful, sacred ritual
Afternoon: Movement, Sound & Emotional Digestion
After lunch and a gentle digestive walk, we’ll return to the studio for a mindful yoga practice designed to stimulate and support healthy digestion. The practice will gradually transition into a deeply restorative sound bath meditation, where we’ll explore the profound connection between the gut, the nervous system, and the mind.
In this session, we’ll work with:

-Yoga postures that support digestive health
​
-Mudras to stimulate digestion and balance energy
​
-Pranayama techniques to calm and regulate the nervous system
​
-Intuitive energy practices to connect with subtle body awareness
​
-A healing sound bath for nervous system nourishment
​
-Visualization and affirmations to gently “re-write” unhelpful self-narratives​


Afternoon: Integration &
Emotional Release
Feeling grounded, calm, and connected, we’ll then take time to digest our inner experience through guided journaling, followed by optional group sharing and a powerful release ritual.
Just as undigested food can disrupt the body, unprocessed emotions can create imbalance. This space is designed to gently clear both!

Hi, I’m Abbey.
​
I’m an Ayurvedic Health Counsellor, Registered Yoga Instructor, Meditation Teacher, and Sound Healer, devoted to supporting others in reconnecting with their bodies through holistic, time-honored wisdom.
​
My passion for Yoga and Ayurveda is deeply rooted in my own healing journey. After years of living with a severe eating disorder and chronic digestive challenges, including bowel surgery and countless visits to Western medical specialists, I found myself searching for answers that never fully arrived. Despite extensive testing and treatment, my digestion and overall wellbeing remained compromised.
​
Everything shifted when I discovered Ayurveda. Through learning to live in harmony with nature’s rhythms, and by gently integrating holistic lifestyle and dietary practices, I began to heal. Over time, my digestion strengthened, my relationship with my body softened, and I reclaimed a sense of vitality and resilience I hadn’t known before.
​
To me, Yoga and Ayurveda are a homecoming—a return to our truest, most authentic selves. The yogic path guides us toward self-awareness and inner freedom, while Ayurveda supports the mind and body in staying strong, clear, and receptive. Together, they create fertile ground for healing, balance, and meaningful transformation.

It is from this place of lived experience, reverence, and care that I hold space for others on their own healing journeys.
